The North-West University (NWU) is a South African public research university located on three campuses in Potchefstroom, Mahikeng and Vanderbijlpark. Any NWU prospectus is expected to own the following documents before proceeding with their application process:

- Grade 11 or Grade 12 examination certificates (for South Africans)

The North-West University (NWU) Admission Management has released the Online Application Form for the 2023 academic year. The university now accepts applications from interested and qualified candidates for NWU admission for 2022/2023.

How do I apply for admission at NWU?
How do I apply for NWU online 2022? The North-West University requires you to have a University Number and PIN to begin the application process. The first step in the application process is filling in and submitting the undertaking document.
After filling in the form, click on the new application option and create a university number by filling in the details on the personal page. Filling in the personal information will require you to create a password. Clicking next will generate your university number ad PIN. The PIN and university number will be sent to your phone and email address.
Using the student number and PIN, open the new application screen. It will require you to fill in the required details, such as your level of study and whether you will apply for residence accommodation. The screen will also need you to select your preferred campus. Review the details and submit your application after providing all the prerequisite information and uploading the necessary documents.

How do I change my application details?
Applicants who have submitted their applications can amend/change their details or request a change of qualification or campus. To do this, call 018 285 4320 and have your student number and contact details ready.

The North-West University requires students to register every year, as the General Academic Rules instructs. Student registration begins in February every year. Registration is only possible if a student has paid their minimum payable fees.
Any student with an outstanding fee balance is not allowed to proceed with registration. The university does not grant any respite for the payment of the minimum fee payable. International students are demanded to pay the full amount before their registration can be finalised.
NWU charges fees depending on whether you are a resident or international student.
Does NWU need an application fee?
What is the application fee for NWU? South African applicants do not pay any application fees. International student applicants, on the other hand, are required to pay an application fee totalling R550.
Does NWU have student accommodation?
Resident and international student applicants can opt for on-campus accommodation if they so wish. The university provides residential accommodation for all students who want the service.
To get accommodation, applicants must fill out the NWU residence accommodation forms alongside their admission application forms. This applies to both online and hardcopy applications.
